Is your skin dry in autumn? A few tips on how to restore hydrated skin

Maintaining (indoor) environmental humidity; not over-cleaning; taking good care of your skin; getting enough sleep; these are aspects we can control. If it’s really hard to resist the dryness in autumn, there’s another trick: moisturizing!

To prevent your skin from drying out, you need to start by protecting the skin barrier. The simplest way is to apply moisturizer. After washing your face, immediately apply lotion (or a thicker cream, depending on your skin type and the season) to build a moisturizing barrier for your skin and reduce the loss of moisture in the stratum corneum.

The following are three important moisturizers:

1. Glycerin:Glycerin is the earliest type of moisturizer. High concentrations of glycerin are highly hygroscopic and can absorb moisture not only from the air but also from the dermis, which can dry out the skin and even burn it. Therefore, the appropriate concentration of glycerin used in moisturizers is 5% to 20%.

2. Hyaluronic Acid:Hyaluronic acid can make the skin soft and elastic, promote skin metabolism, has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and skin repair effects, and has the unique property of high moisture absorption at low relative humidity and low moisture absorption at high relative humidity.

3. CeramideCeramide has the protective effect of repairing the skin barrier and preventing moisture loss, and also has anti-aging and anti-infection effects.
